Couch Potatoes · Hiring & Applicant Messaging · Effective September 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Couch Potatoes, a registered trade name (DBA) of CP Furniture Manufacturing LLC and Texas Business Development Group LLC ("Couch Potatoes," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you apply for a job with us through this website (hiring.couchpotatoes.com), by text message (SMS), by email, or in person. It also covers our SMS text messaging program for job applicants.

1. Information we collect

When you apply or communicate with us, we may collect:

  • Contact and identity information: your first and last name, mobile phone number, email address, and preferred language (English or Spanish).
  • Application information: the job you are applying for, your answers to our application questions, your availability, references you choose to provide, and any information you send us by text or email.
  • Messaging information: the content, date, and time of text messages and emails exchanged with you, delivery status, and your opt-in and opt-out choices.
  • Hiring process information: scheduling details for in-person visits or working interviews, notes and evaluations from our team, and the outcome of your application.
  • Technical information: standard web log data such as IP address, browser type, and the time of your visit, used to keep the site secure and working.

We do not ask for your Social Security number, bank information, or government ID through this website or by text message. Employment-eligibility paperwork is completed in person after an offer.

2. How we use your information

  • To review and evaluate your job application and contact you about it.
  • To send you application-related text messages and emails (see Section 3).
  • To schedule and confirm in-person visits, working interviews, and start dates.
  • To check references you provide.
  • To comply with employment, record-keeping, and other legal obligations.
  • To operate, secure, and improve our hiring process.

We may use automated tools, including artificial-intelligence software, to help organize and summarize application answers for our hiring team. Hiring decisions are made by people at Couch Potatoes, not by automated tools alone.

3. SMS text messaging program

Program name: Couch Potatoes Hiring Alerts

What you receive: Application-related messages only, such as a link to complete your application, reminders, questions from our hiring team, invitations to visit the shop, scheduling confirmations, directions, and updates about the status of your application. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages through this program.

How you opt in: You consent to receive text messages by checking the text-message consent box on our online application, by telling us in writing (for example, in a job-board message or email) that we may text you, or by texting our hiring number first. Consent is not a condition of applying or of employment; you may apply without agreeing to text messages.

Message frequency: Varies. Most applicants receive a small number of messages over the course of their application, typically fewer than 10 per week.

Cost: Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details.

How to opt out: Reply STOP to any message at any time. You will receive one final message confirming that you have been unsubscribed, and we will not send further texts unless you opt back in by replying START.

Help: Reply HELP to any message, email hiring@couchpotatoes.com, or call the number shown in our messages.

Carriers: Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the categories of sharing described in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. Mobile information you provide for the purpose of receiving text messages is used only to deliver the messages described above, through the messaging service provider that transmits them on our behalf.

4. How we share information

We share your information only as needed to run our hiring process:

  • Service providers that help us operate this website and send messages, such as our hosting provider, our email provider, our text-messaging provider (Twilio), and our AI-assisted application review tools. These providers may use your information only to provide services to us.
  • References you list, solely to confirm your work history.
  • Legal and safety reasons: when required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Couch Potatoes, our employees, applicants, or others.
  • Business transfers: if Couch Potatoes is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, applicant records may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

5. How long we keep your information

We keep application records for as long as reasonably necessary to consider you for current and future openings and to meet our legal record-keeping obligations, generally up to two years after your application is closed. Records for applicants who are hired become part of their employment file. You may ask us to delete your application at any time (see Section 8), subject to records we are legally required to keep.

6. How we protect your information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls limited to our hiring team, and secure hosting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children

Our jobs and this website are intended for individuals who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Text messages: Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts.
  • Email: Contact us to stop receiving application-related emails.
  • Access, correction, or deletion: You may ask us to review, correct, or delete the information we hold about you by emailing hiring@couchpotatoes.com. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first.
